FAQ
Are the tzitzis aligned with strict halachic standards?
Yes. We’ve constructed our tzitzis according to the Orthodox halachic standard — the strictest interpretation of Jewish law.
- Anan strings are designed and produced to the highest halachic standards, following both Ashkenazi and Sephardic minhag.
- Unlike typical undershirt tzitzis, which usually rely on machine-made strings, each set of Anan tzitzis follow the strictest Chumros, using strings that are hand-tied by shomer Shabbos learners, prepared under trusted rabbinic supervision.
- The garment itself is constructed in full accordance with halachic requirements regarding shape and placement.
That said, some strict Orthodox communities have the minhag to wear tzitzis specifically made from wool. We are currently developing lightweight wool options — you’re welcome to join the waitlist to be notified when they become available.
What if I’m unsure which tying style to choose?
If you’re not sure whether you follow Ashkenaz or Sephardic custom, the best approach is to choose the style traditionally worn in your family or community.
If that’s still unclear, you can ask your rabbi for guidance. Both tying styles are fully kosher — the difference reflects community tradition, not validity.
What fabric is the Anan Original undershirt tzitzis made from?
A nylon-spandex microfiber blend engineered for breathability, stretch, and moisture control.
Is the tzitzis production halachically supervised?
Yes. Strings are handmade, certified by Badatz, and tied by strictly shomer-Shabbos learners under hashgacha from R’ Aryeh Levine.
Does Anan have machine-made strings?
No. Unlike most undershirt tzitzis, all of Anan’s tzitzis are hand-made, hand-tied strings, following the strictest interpretation of halacha for kosher tzitzis.
Will it shrink over time after repeated washing?
No. The pre-shrunk fabric maintains its shape and structure even after extensive washing, as long as care instructions as followed.
What are the care instructions?
Wash: Machine wash cold, gentle cycle.
Dry: Lay flat or tumble dry on low.
Avoid: Bleach, fabric softeners, or ironing.
Tip: Wash with similar lightweight fabrics for best results.
Handle tzitzit strings with care during washing and drying, using your preferred protection method just as you would with regular tzitzit.
